工房シシカムは、器を使う人が和やかな気持ちになるような、素朴で温かみのある作品を作りたいと思っています。

Nice to meet you, I'm Kobo Sisicam.

I want to create simple, warm pieces that will bring a sense of peace to those who use them.

シシカムの器は歪んでいます。

マグカップの口は楕円形だったり、指で成形した跡があったり。シシカムの器は歪で整っていません。

それは『手捻り』という手法で作っているからです。

器の形状が美しい正円ではない事が『失敗』ではなくて、器の『個性』だと捉えてもらえたら嬉しいです。

The pottery I make is distorted.

The mouth of a mug is oval, or there are marks from shaping it with fingers. Sisicam's pottery is distorted and irregular.

This is because they are made using a technique called "hand-twisting."

I would be happy if people could see the fact that the shape of the pottery is not a beautiful, perfect circle not as a "failure," but as the pottery's "personality."

シシカムの器はザラザラしています。

土の質感や色味を活かしたいので、艶のある滑らかな触感の器ではありません。

ザラザラしているので、器に食材や油のシミが付くのを心配されるお客様も多いです。

でも艶消しの透明な釉薬を施しているので、シミの心配をせずにお使いいただけます。

それでも長期間使っていくうちに、変色する事はあると思います。それは経年変化として楽しんでみてください。

The pottery I make has a rough texture.

I want to bring out the natural texture and colour of the clay, so it's not shiny or smooth to the touch.

Because the texture is rough, many customers are concerned that food or oil stains will get on the pottery.

However, I apply a matte, transparent glaze, so you can use it without worrying about stains.

However, I do think that the colour may change over time. Try to enjoy it as it changes over time.
